Information Centre

Key Facts

The librarian is Mrs Rogan.  Several students also help with cataloguing new books, lending out and returning books and helping to move books and shelves around. Sometimes we eat chocolate and try to do crossword puzzles.

The Information Centre is open from 8.15am to 4.15pm. PCs are available in the Multi-Media Centre next to the library.

Resources

We have a rapidly-increasing range of resources, including magazines, DVDs and more than 10,000 books. Last year, over 1000 new resources were bought for the library.

Book Fairs

Every year, we have several Book Fairs, giving boys the opportunity to look at some newly-released titles. They can also buy books, usually discounted, from the Scholastic Book Club.

Carnegie Medal

In May and June each year, volunteer Year 9 boys read and review books shortlisted for the prestigious Carnegie Medal, adding their reviews to the Carnegie website, voting for their favourite books and looking at what pupils form other schools have written.

Author visits

We have have some fascinating encounters with popular authors, including Joe Craig, Joseph Delaney and Justin Somper, who visited the school to talk about their books and writing.
