Year 7 Induction
A warm welcome to all parents of Year 7 pupils who are starting at LRGS this year. We have attached a range of induction letters and information sheets (see below) which we hope will be of interest to you as you prepare for your son joining the school. We hope you find them useful and look forward to welcoming your son in September.
School uniform is available from Uniform and Leisurewear, 15 Common Garden Street, Lancaster (opposite Marketgate Car Park). Tel: 01524 848494.
The shop is reopening on Monday 15th June. Opening times will be 9.30am until 4.30pm for general purchases. If customers need to exchange or collect any items, they can do so between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. They are opening 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday (Closed Sunday's and Bank Holidays).
When visiting the shop, only one parent and one child per family will be allowed to enter. Unfortunately, any families who bring more than one adult with them, will be told to wait outside, discretion will be used upon arrival and allowances made in certain circumstances.
The Friends of LRGS are opening the School Shop which stocks an array of quality pre-owned uniform and sportswear as well as LRGS memorabilia.
The opening times are:
Friday 28th August and Saturday 29th August (times to be confirmed).
First Day at LRGS
The first day of term for Year 7s starting in 2020 is planned for Wednesday 2 September. We will update all parents with full details as soon as we are clear on arrangements for the safe re-opening of schools.
The term will begin with special welcome and induction days for the new boys. It will be an exciting time of meeting the rest of their form group, their form teachers and prefects. Formal lessons will not begin on day one. Pupils will spend time with form teachers, going over their timetables, and doing other activities together. We will show them around the site, and make sure that they are familiar with routines of the school day and week.
The normal school day starts at 8.50am with Form Period or Assembly and finishes at 3.30pm. Click here to see what the school day looks like. These timings, plus a range of other useful information, is in the boys' homework diary, which they will receive on their first day.
LRGS uses an online payment system “Wisepay” to enable parents to pay for trips, music lessons, etc. From the beginning of term, parents of new pupils at the school will be sent, via email, their username and login details to access Wisepay. Further information can be found in the Wisepay Information document.
If you have any further enquiries about induction at LRGS, please contact our Head of Year 7 and Transition, Mrs Kathryn Page.
