Financial Assistance

We would like to draw parents' attention to the various sources of funding that may be available to those who are experiencing financial difficulties.  If your child is in Sixth Form, please see Sixth Form Bursaries below.

The following two are funds set up and funded by former pupils. The schemes allow pupils to take full advantage of all that the school has to offer and, hopefully, provide them with opportunities that perhaps they had thought not possible.

The Lune Scholarship

The Lune Scholarship Fund offers help towards uniform and school wear costs, sports gear and equipment, or towards travel costs to and from home.

To apply, please email Lorna Lightfoot, or ring 01524 580612.

The Opportunities Fund

The Opportunities Fund gives discretionary financial assistance if pupils need help to go on extra-curricular trips, have a once in a lifetime opportunity or are representing a recognised body of distinction outside of school.

An application form for this fund is attached (below).  To apply or for further information, please email Lorna Lightfoot or ring 01524 580612.

Pupil Premium and Free School Meals

These are accessed via the local authority.  For more information please see this link to Lancashire County Council.  If you require further assistance in accessing Pupil Premium or Free School Meals, please email James Hallsworth, Head of Pastoral Support, or ring 01524 580600.

Sixth Form Bursaries

Student bursary money is available to help with any expenditure that is incurred as a Sixth Form student at LRGS. This could include travel to school each day, a new suit or laptop, a school trip or travel to go on university open days. It can provide substantial sums to help pupils from a household with an income less than £22,000 per year, and significant help for those with up to twice that. Those on the Free School Meals list qualify automatically without the need to show any paperwork.

Full details are in the Sixth Form Bursaries page on our website or from Carol Haywood, Sixth Form Administrator.
