Head of Physics
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Physics who is able to deliver an excellent standard of teaching across all key stages including A level.
Physics at LRGS has an extremely high reputation and is one of the most popular subject choices at A level.
We are looking for a committed and motivated professional with vision and enthusiasm to lead our experienced and successful department.
The successful applicant will:
Ø be able to teach Physics across the age range.
Ø be an energetic teacher, who is passionate about Physics and who seeks out opportunities within and beyond the classroom to inspire their pupils and colleagues.
Ø lead by example and encourage excellence and the highest possible standards of pedagogy within the department.
Ø be an experienced teacher with high regard for delivering and sharing best practice that maximises pupil progress and engagement with the subject.
Ø ensure that all Schemes of Work are well-sequenced and meet the needs of all pupils, including through the use of adaptive teaching.
Ø routinely monitor and develop Schemes of Work so that they are clear, easy to follow and well-resourced with appropriate pupil assessments interleaved that test precise knowledge and skills.
Ø understand the importance of meaningful feedback and pupil tracking and ensure the effective implementation of these.
Ø lead the coordination and administration of internal Physics examinations.
Ø ensure that pupils are prepared appropriately for internal and external examinations, and support Sixth Form students with preparation for Physics related applications and interviews.
Ø line-manage the Physics technician.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher with the energy, experience and vision to maintain and develop the prominence of Physics within the school.
Salary for the role will be paid on MPS / UPS plus TLR 1a (currently £10,173 per annum)
