RGS Cricket Festival Winners 2026

LRGS 1st XI beat RGS High Wycombe in the final of the RGS Schools Cricket Festival by 137 runs to win the RGS Schools’ Festival trophy 2026!

Congratulations to Logan who won the Young Player of the Festival award for picking up 11 wickets and 5 catches over the 5 days!

Report by Mr Mason:

Jack Lord was Captain and handled himself brilliantly all week and had a match winning innings himself against RGS Newcastle. George Willan also scored a century earlier on in the week against RGS Guildford to help us win on day two.

Overall it was an absolutely super effort from the boys on and off the pitch all week and great to have so many LRGS supporters and parents with us throughout.

In the evenings the boys organised the bookings for the restaurants and the team meals and unlike the England Cricket team stuck to their self imposed curfew of 9.30pm!

There were many compliments about the boys conduct and manners and the store manager of Aldi in Worcester made a point of finding one of our parents to pass comment on the politeness of the boys in his store earlier in the day.

A special thanks to Mr Rosbottom and Mr Ledward who accompanied me on the trip and their support and help was invaluable to me and the boys. Mr Burns joined us for the 5 days and gave a fantastic speech when he presented the Man of the Match award on day 4.

For those who know Geoff Ellis (OL) he was with us as we took the last wicket today to win the trophy, he then donated £250 towards the boys meal on the drive back north! An incredibly generous gesture. Thank you Geoff!
