Welcome to LRGS Netball!
LRGS Netball is a thriving and successful netball program at Lancaster Royal Grammar School. Since the introduction of our first girls' netball team in 2018, our program has grown to include two teams that train and compete regularly. Our teams train twice a week and participate in matches against other schools every Wednesday afternoon.
In 2022, LRGS entered a team into the Lancaster Netball League, and we are proud to announce that our team finished top of their division, earning promotion to Division 1. We are the only school team that play in this division. Building on this success, we have also introduced a second team into the league, providing more opportunities for our students to play netball.
At LRGS Netball, we believe in fostering team spirit and providing unique experiences for our players. Each year, our netball squad embarks on a pre-season training and team-building trip to a UK city. Last year, we travelled to Leeds, where we played against local schools and participated in an exciting aerial arts team-building session. We also organise various events throughout the year, including trips to watch professional netball matches, sessions with professional players, and charity games against other sports teams and staff members.
We are proud to announce that in February 2023, our netball team embarked on their first-ever tour to London. During the four-day tour, our team played against two local schools, enjoyed team-building activities, and explored the vibrant city. We visited iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and the London Dungeons. Thanks to the generous support of our tour sponsors, Mark Armer and the OL club, our players were fully kitted out for both playing and travelling around London. The tour was an unforgettable experience for our students and staff, creating memories that
will last a lifetime.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that in February 2025, our netball and cricket. teams will join together for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Sri Lanka.
We encourage our alumni to get involved in our netball program. Last year, we launched our first OL Netball game, where a team of OL Netballers took on our 1st XI. This academic year the OL’s took the victory in an exciting and competitive match. If you are an OL and would like to take part in the annual game, please email Mrs A Ashby or Miss J Doswell.
