Sixth Form Open Evening
The Sixth Form Open Evening takes place on Tuesday 15 October at 5.30pm.
Parents and prospective students are welcome to come and experience what makes Lancaster Royal Grammar School Sixth Form such a unique, supportive and vibrant place to learn, both in and out of the classroom.
Headmaster Dr Pyle said: “This is an exciting time for the school as the Sixth Form becomes fully coeducational and we welcome girls as boarders for the first time. Our Sixth Form is all about challenge, choice and care – whether you are considering LRGS for the first time, with us already in Year 11, or looking at the special opportunities of boarding.”
In order to attract applications from the most ambitious candidates, we are delighted to offer the opportunity for talented pupils to apply for a boarding scholarship. Up to three awards will be made to scholars for academic or extra-curricular excellence.
Lancaster Royal Grammar School is consistently placed among the top state schools in the country. In 2019, A-level students achieved top A and A* grades in more than 53% of all the exams that they sat.
The Open Evening will provide visitors with an opportunity to visit the newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre, look around the school classrooms and meet the teachers and current students. There are more than 20 A-level courses to choose from and there will be plenty of people around to offer advice on subject combinations and future implications. Sixth Form guides will be on hand for you to quiz as you move around the school.
There will be scheduled talks from Sarah Haigh, Head of Sixth Form, Headmaster, Dr Pyle and some current Sixth Form pupils. Please come along and find out more about boarding opportunities, bursaries, transition, careers, the Extended Project Qualification and the extracurricular activities that are on offer.
