Richard Furlong-Brown - RFB

LRGS Staff 1980 – 2018

You will have your own memories of RFB but there is no doubt that he was a rare and outstanding teacher who had a lifelong influence on his pupils.  He managed to bring out the best in his charges giving them confidence in their own abilities.

As a school, we would like to keep his memory alive and to acknowledge the huge impact that he had on hundreds of pupils, former pupils, staff, governors and parents.

A Memorial Fund is being set up in his name and we hope that as many people as possible will wish to support it.   Amongst other things RFB was a keystone of Ashton House, on the Douthwaite and in the Maths department and we feel it appropriate to provide a memorial that reflects his commitment to those areas of school life.  There are a number of projects that we have in mind ranging from a memorial in Ashton House and on the cricket pitch to endowing a Maths prize in his name.  The Old Lancastrian Club is kindly erecting a plaque in his memory in Ashton House day room.

We hope that you will wish to be part of our plans and will consider donating towards the RFB Memorial Fund.   You can donate on-line below or make a bank transfer to the school charity: Sort code 20-47-61, Account 70798282, using your name as a reference.  If you elect to “gift aid” your donation this will add an extra 25% to your gift at no cost to you.
