Lancaster Royal Grammar School has recently welcomed a new Chair of Governors, Mr Howard Roberts FCII to the helm.
Mr Roberts has been a member of the governing body since 2008, having joined as a parent governor. He has already made significant contributions to the development of the school in recent years. As Chair of the Properties Committee and Vice Chair of the Finance Committee, he has overseen extensive building and facilities improvements including the current £2.5 million building project to create new science laboratories, classrooms and sixth form study space for students.
He has also been the Chair of Governors for Scotforth St Paul’s C of E Primary and Nursery School until recent years and is the Managing Director of Hepworth Insurance Services.
Mr Roberts said, "I am delighted to be taking on the role of Chair of Governors and it’s a privilege to be working with the head master and his senior leadership team and my fellow governors to ensure LRGS maintains it’s high standards of teaching and learning for the benefit of all the students”.
Mr Roberts succeeds former Chair Mrs Gill Manklow, who has agreed to continue as a member of the governing body for the immediate future in order to ensure a successful handover. The school is immensely grateful for her dedicated leadership and service over the last seven years.
