Pupils in Year 7 and their families gathered with teachers and staff to celebrate LRGS Founders' Day with a Service of Thanksgiving at the Priory on Saturday 7th July.
The moving service in Lancaster Priory was well attended with boys and adults alike sporting the traditional red rose buttonhole.
This year’s address was given by OL Jonathan Halsey, Managing Director of Capernwray Bible School.
The service included a recital of Robert Frost’s “The Road not Taken” by William Thornton and Evan Butcher performed a reading of Act II, Scene VII of Shakespeare’s As You Like It.
The music department shone with their superb performances of ‘Look at the World’ by John Rutter sung by the LRGS Choir and ‘Down by the Salley Gardens’ by the LRGS Upper Voices. The LRGS Chamber Choir delighted the audience with their rendition of ‘Sigh No More Ladies’ by William Arminger.
The lesson, Luke 5:1-11 Jesus Calls His First Disciples was read by Cain Donnelly, Deputy Head of School.
LRGS give thanks to Rev Dr Rebecca Aechtner for leading prayers.
After the service, over 100 alumni, friends and family gathered for a sparkling reception and delicious buffet lunch, provided in the school dining room giving a chance to catch up with old friends and colleagues alike. The glorious weather and an England win in the afternoon all added to a marvellous day.
