We welcome you to come and experience for yourselves what makes our Sixth Form such a unique, supportive and vibrant place to learn, both in and out of the classroom.
Our Sixth Form Open Evening takes place on Wednesday 18 October at 5.30pm.
The evening will begin with an informal welcome in the School Library and a visit to the Sixth Form Café and Sixth Form Centre.
Refreshments will be available in the café.
During this first half hour, you can speak to tutors and boys and look around the 6th Form area to get a flavour of what life in our Sixth Form is like. Hopefully, you will pick up on the energy, dynamism and leadership levels of our students.
From 6pm you will be invited to move off around the school site to investigate the subjects that your son may be interested in studying at A-level. There are more than 20 courses to choose from.
If you wish, you can begin your tour by collecting a Sixth Form guide from the Library, who you can quiz as you move around the school. Alternatively, you can opt to move freely as a family group.
There will be scheduled talks from Sarah Haigh, Head of Sixth Form, Headmaster Dr Pyle and some current 6th Form pupils in the Assembly Hall. The Headmaster, other senior members of staff and the Head of Sixth Form will also be available to discuss subject combinations and to answer your questions during the rest of the evening in the hall.
A representative from Lancaster University will also be available to give advice about the next step after Sixth Form, offering for example, impartial information on subject combinations for entry to higher education.
In the library you will find details about boarding opportunities, bursaries, transition, careers, the EPQ and our enrichment programme. Staff and pupils will be on hand until 7:30pm.
We hope you enjoy reading our new prospectus and we look forward to meeting you and showing you what life at LRGS Sixth Form is like.
