A new senior prefect team has been chosen to take the lead for 2017-18.
The new prefects have recently been selected to take on this important leadership role within the school community. They will carry out a range of duties and responsibilities and represent the school at events throughout the coming year and act as tremendous role models to our younger students.
The Lower Sixth hopefuls were put through a rigorous selection process and Head of Sixth Form Sarah Haigh recalled the calibre of applicants was extremely high.
Miss Haigh said: “I was very impressed with the number and quality of applications from the Lower Sixth. It was clear that, as a year group, they are very keen to give back to the school community. The selection process this year was rigorous, and culminated in a panel interview led by the outgoing senior prefect team and two final intense interviews with Senior Leadership Team. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Joseph Pritchard and Prakash Thanikachalam and all of the Upper Sixth prefects who have done a fantastic job this year, and I am confident that the incoming team will work very hard to continue the good work they have done.”
We are delighted to announce that the following students have been successful and will start their new roles this week:
Head Boy – Lewis MacPherson
Charities and events – Vedant Rungta
Welfare – Joe Atkinson
Operations – Marcus Blackett-Ord
New Head Boy Lewis MacPherson is incredibly proud to represent LRGS and said: “It is my job to act as a ‘bridge’ between pupils and teachers, and supervise the running of the prefect team. Pupils will see me and other members of the prefect team in assemblies and around school – we are all friendly and approachable so please come and have a chat.”
