Full CalendarSchool Calendar
This event will take place between 8:00am and 6:30pm on 17/09/2020 until 20/09/2020.
Summary of Event: 3 days, 2 nights of sea kayaking on the Island of Mull. Year 10 boys, three staff (with prior kayak experience), three instructors from a company we have used previously. Campsite for the first night then wild camping for the remainder, weather dependent. Exact location of the paddling will depend on weather at the time. In terms of justification, students should gain: • An appreciation of the outdoors • An appreciation of a part of the UK they have probably never visited • Introduction to a new (and brilliant!) sport • Confidence and a sense of achievement in an environment that is very different from the school • An ability to work as part of a group in challenging conditions • Promotes physical and mental health and well being. Furthermore, it satisfies the NC requirement for students “take part in further outdoor and adventurous activities in a range of environments which present intellectual and physical challenges and which encourage pupils to work in a team, building on trust and developing skills to solve problems, either individually or as a group”.
Event Location: Fidden Farm, Mull.
