The meeting of the Erasmus+ School Project entitled ‘PFP – Personal Finance Programme’ was successfully organised in Cyprus in March.

LRGS is working with international partners and schools to create teaching modules that will help young people to manage their money and be aware of the various opportunities and risks. Issues such as budgeting, banking and saving, mortgages, internet security, taxes and salaries were analysed and modified to target the needs of young people in each partner country.

Sixth Form students from LRGS presented their educational video on mortgages and their leaflet of investments that they have produced as part of the PFP project. Students and teachers from Cyprus, Finland and Italy also shared their learning resources which they have taken back to their respective countries to share with pupils in school.

Mr Russell Wareing, Head of Business and Economics at LRGS said: “It has been a rewarding experience to be part of the international Erasmus + Personal Finance Programme. Students have looked at ways to improve the financial education offered to their peers and create resources that will make young people more informed of everyday financial issues.”

At the end of the week long forum, a spokesperson for the Personal Finance Programme said: “Ten modules to help students understand finance better were presented and evaluated. Teachers were very well prepared and gave informative and inspiring presentations. The students, representing schools from the UK, Finland and Italy all got on really well together, were very attentive, engaged and gave very mature and considered feedback at the end of each session.  The organisation by Emphasys of Nicosia here is Cyprus was first class.
