John Fidler

We have been notified of the very sad news that John Fidler has passed away, he had been ill for some time.

John joined LRGS in September 1962 as Teacher of History.  He retired as Head of History in August 1997 and was appointed the following day as Admissions Tutor September 1997, a post he held during his retirement until August 2013.

During his 51 years’ service at LRGS John was a senior Housemaster, ran the Schools Challenge Quiz team, edited The Lancastrian magazine and was Contingent Commander of the CCF, and he was author to “The History of Lancaster Royal Grammar School”.

John used to take great delight in saying he could fly a plane, but he has never learnt to drive!
