Is there a Sixth Form uniform if so what is it?
There is no official uniform. However a smart suit is required, along with the Sixth Form tie and smart black shoes
What time does school begin/end?
The school starts at 8:50 and ends at 3:30
How is the day structured?
The day is broken down in to seven lesson periods and a hour for lunch with a 20 minute break in the morning.
8:50-9:10 form period or assembly
9:10-9:50 first period
9:50-10:35 second period
10:35-11:20 third period
11:20-11:40 break
11:40-12:20 fourth period
12:20-1:05 fifth period
1:05-2:05 lunch time
2:05-2:45 sixth period
2:45-3:30 seventh period
3:30 school ends
Is it difficult to fit in?
The boys are very welcoming and generally there is a nice atmosphere and you will make friends quickly
- At least 7 Bs at GCSE
- At least a grade B in any subject you wish to take
- At least an A in Maths if you wish to take it
- At least grade C in English and Maths
What activities are available during free time/free periods?
Sixth Formers are allowed to go into Lancaster at break/lunch
There is a Sixth Form Centre and library available for private study
The Sixth Form Centre also has an area with comfortable seating and a TV for use during lunch/break there is also food available from here.
There are also many sport facilities/clubs available to students at break/lunch and after school
How do I know which subjects to choose?
Subject choice should be based on your interests and most importantly the requirements of any course you want to take at university.

What privileges do the Sixth Formers have?
Sixth Formers are allowed to leave the site during lunch and break. They are allowed to use the Sixth Form centre for recreation or study and have exclusive use of the canteen in the Sixth Form centre. Sixth Form timetables will have a certain amount of time allocated for private study - it is up to the student what he wishes to do in these periods. Sixth Form students may leave school early if they have no more lessons that day. Sixth Formers have two games periods allocated to them on Wednesday afternoons. There are a lot of activities available on site or Sixth Formers may choose to fulfil their games commitment of site at a gym or other venue.

Students may also organise their own games off site.
Is any financial support available?
EMA (Educational Maintenance Allowance) is no longer available. LRGS will pass on YPLA funds (replacing EMA) as follows: £1200pa for those in care or care leavers, and for some on Disability Living Allowances (priority one) and up to £800pa reimbursement of school-related expenses for those in receipt of free school meals (priority two).
There is also some support available for reimbursing school-related expenses for those who have demonstrated need – ie low household income as demonstrated by tax records (priority three). Eligible expenses could include equipment, books, school trips, school clothing, attending interviews etc during the current academic year.
At the time of updating this information (Jan 2012), it is not clear whether LCC will continue their travel cost support for another year or not.
