LRGS chemists go for gold! |
|
Congratulations to several LRGS chemistry students who have received the best results for the school for many years in the Royal Society of Chemistry's Chemistry Olympiad.
Tom Chambers received a much-coveted gold certificate, and nine of his fellow students achieved silver and bronze awards. The students are all in the U6th and completed the first round of the UK Chemistry Olympiad, which is a challenging written test of chemical knowledge, consisting of a three hour paper completed under supervision. Doug King, who organised the boys’ training for the competition, said: “The lads volunteered to attend a series of lunchtime sessions to have a go at some practice questions and to discuss the best approaches to the Olympiad. They all did themselves proud – these were the best results we have had for several years.” Results in full: Gold Tom Chambers Silver Matthew Callery, Chaeho Hwang, Alex Lucas, Tom Partington, James Taylor Bronze Siddarth Nardeosingh, Ben Stretch, Matthew Teasdale, Harry Warr |
