Under 12s are Lancashire Champions
Despite the onset of autumn, the Lancashire Schools Cricket cup is still being played, and the LRGS Under-12 team have just won the final against Bolton School in a dramatic fashion.
LRGS batted first, posting a competitive score of 97 for 6 in their 25 overs (C Owen 28, W Fraser-Gray 18, J Thomas 17*). In response, Bolton School made 95 all out (L Atkinson 2 for 15, A Kumar 1 for 17, W Fraser-Gray 1 for 15, C Robinson-Brooks 1 for 22, A Chakravarty 1 for 11).
The win carries extra significance as LRGS will now represent the county in next year's national competition. The U13 LRGS team have also reached the final of the championship, and this Thursday or Friday will play either Blessed Trinity or Bolton School. They beat Merchant Taylor’s decisively in the semi-final last week, scoring 108 for 0, and dismissing the opposition for just 47 runs.
