Football success for LRGS
LRGS has won the Lancaster Schools District Cup, beating Morecambe High School 1-0 at the Globe Arena Morecambe recently.
The 1st XI U18 team (under Captain Xavier Labat) beat stiff opposition from several strong school sides, to achieve their second victory in this local cup competition. The winning goal scorer was Mike Kelly.
Coach Tim Hall said: “This is the culmination of a great season for LRGS. The boys performed consistently, were very creative going forward and extremely solid at the back. We were delighted to have such a strong, very vocal crowd supporting us on the day!”
Director of Football Richard Mellon said: "LRGS is renowned for its rugby successes, but this victory puts the school on the map for football success as well. Football is becoming increasingly popular in the school as an optional sport at Sixth Form."
