Boarding

At LRGS we are proud of our outstanding record of academic success and the wealth of sporting and cultural activities we offer.  We are equally proud of our boarding facilities, which we believe are amongst the best in the country.  As you will see, we provide a range of flexible boarding options to suit the needs of the modern family.

Those who visit LRGS are struck by the warm, family atmosphere that characterises boarding at the school.  Our dedicated teams of housemasters, tutors and matrons care for each boy as an individual, ensuring that wherever his talents and interests lie, he can succeed and be happy during his time at LRGS.

LRGS is one of a small number of state boarding schools in the UK.  While we compete effectively with the independent sector on all aspects – academic, cultural and sporting – there are no tuition fees and so our boarders pay less than a third of the fees payable at independent schools.  As such, we can offer tremendous value for money!

With the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and the Yorkshire Dales all just a day-trip away, ours is a safe, peaceful environment, surrounded by some of the most stunning landscapes in the country.  We are little more than an hour from Manchester and Liverpool and excellent road and rail links mean that other major UK cities and airports, including Birmingham and Newcastle, are also within easy reach.

These are just some of the reasons why parents choose boarding at LRGS for their son, but don’t just take my word for it – have a look through our website and see what we can offer you and your son.  Above all, I hope you will come and visit the school and see for yourself what makes it special.  Ring me on 01524 580605 - I look forward to meeting you!
