Oxbridge news

Whilst the offers from the Oxford colleges reach the boys before Christmas, the candidates for Cambridge endure a wait until the New Year.

This has been a good year for the school overall with news of 20 successful Oxbridge applications.  Some of these boys are facing tough offers, and they will be seriously challenged in the coming months, but that is probably how it ought to be.  It will be a test of their academic resolve.

As always, my commiserations go to those who have not been successful.  The letters of explanation that we receive from the tutors often confirm an individual's ability and potential, but bemoan the lack of space.

Equally, my congratulations to the 20 boys who have secured an offer, in the face of the toughest opposition.  There is most definitely no room for any complacency but in many ways the hardest task is now behind you.  Now finish the job properly.
