A fitting finale
One of the highlights of the year today with the annual school carol services at the Priory Church.
When I first arrived, we were able to cram the whole school into the church; some had a very restricted view but it was lovely to be able to come together to celebrate as one. However, H & S rules (!) and also the conversion of the balcony to house a new organ have severely reduced capacity. So we have three services instead.
Last Saturday, the invitation went out to the First Year boys and their parents, plus governors, old boys and all other friends of the school. Today, we had the older boys in the morning, followed by the boys in years 2-4 in the afternoon.
It is quite a marathon for the choir, but they rose magnificently to the challenge. Under the direction of Emma Lamb, with Andrew Plowman providing accompaniment, their singing was quite magical. It was especially good to hear so many solo voices.
All in all, a fitting finale to the term and a great start to the festive season.
