All hail to the Fylde!

It was my privilege to watch a really outstanding game of schoolboy rugby this evening.  We are hosting a tour party from King's School in Parramatta, Australia and there was a fixture against our 1st XV played under lights at Fylde Rugby Club.

It must have been quite a contrast for the Aussie boys, coming from mid-summer heat in New South Wales to horizontal hail in Lancashire!  Yet despite the conditions, both sides played entertaining open rugby and throughly entertained the large crowd.  We nicked a home win 7-5 thanks to a conversion which bounced off the cross bar.

I'm very grateful to Fylde RUFC for so generously hosting the game, and to the families who hosted our guests for a couple of nights.  In every sense, it was a wonderful occasion and the presentations and votes of thanks after the game were warm and heartfelt.
