Glenridding

The First Year 'Glenridding Experience' is an opportunity for boys to experience various outdoor activities and to learn to work and live together.

Over a two week period, once end of year exams are out of the way, all First Years enjoy a weekend of outdoor activities with their classmates. The outdoor centre is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, near the shores of Ullswater in the stunning landscape of the northern Lake District.

For some of the boys it is the first time that they have been able to have a go at climbing, canoeing and mountain camping. The environmental walk may open their eyes to the flora and the geology of the area.  There is an emphasis on safety throughout, along with teaching about respecting the countryside, the importance of wearing appropriate clothing and the necessary safety equipment and a general awareness of keeping the country code at all times.

It is not only a wonderful chance for them to learn these important outdoor skills, but is a chance for the boys to truly bond with their classmates and have a lot of fun - as a glance through the photo gallery will show you.  The Glenridding Experience really is a highlight of the First Years' calendar.
